As an Automotive defect manager in our group, you will be responsible for managing the defect backlog and ensuring defects are prioritized and resolved within the target KPIs that are assigned to you for the program team you are part of. This includes accountability for making quality, risks and impact assessments for each defect. 


  • Daily prioritization and assignment of defects
  • Manage the defect backlog for Automotive programs
  • Responsible for root cause analysis for defects
  • Responsible for escalating performance issues when KPI goals are not being met
  • Work with program managers and QA Leads on programs to implement process improvements for defect work
  • Manage backlog of defects for the maturation teams 
  • Facilitate product priorisation meetings for defects that can’t be triaged by the error manager with the relevant departments
  • Ensure defects are scheduled accordingly and monitor the through put of defect closure
  • Represent your program for the monthly ‘health of program’ review within the delivery team
  • As needed may be asked to present metrics and CD level QMR when topics are related to error/defect stats


  • Masters degree in computer science or program management
  • At least 5 years experience in managing IT programs
  • Automotive experience a plus
  • Project / program management qualifications a strong plus
  • Good Communication skills
  • Experience with JIRA
