Overview

SUMMARY OF JOB (Summarize most important responsibilities of position; 2-3 sentences Maximum)

 

  • Develop and lead the category sourcing efforts, incorporating best practices and aligning with the business requirements / company strategy

o   Where appropriate, apply the 7-step strategic sourcing process 

 

  • Develop trusting relationships with business / functional stakeholders and suppliers; lead cross-functional teams to ensure effective, collaborative and strategic sourcing decisions are made that satisfy requirements of internal stakeholders

 

  • Set targets / objectives and manage key vendors’ performance for a group of spend categories

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions – list in order of importance; 5-6 maximum)

 

  • Execute strategies and improvement plans for several assigned categories

o   Maintains category expertise by leveraging external networks, business stakeholders, and key suppliers

o   Execute the sourcing strategy and levers to pull early in the project

  • Support development of cross-functional category teams

o   Interfaces with internal customers to understand requirements, demand management opportunities, and issues resolution

o   Engages key stakeholders for inclusion in sourcing strategy development and execution

o   Notifies the Manager when a conflict arises between stakeholder requirements and sourcing strategy

  • Conduct sourcing events

o   Develop and maintains market information on suppliers and work with key stakeholders to identify qualified supply base

o   Creates RFQs / RFPs with regards to execution of bid events

o   Work with cross-functional / key stakeholders to develop selection criteria

o   Conduct supplier negotiations

  • Manages ongoing vendor relationships with business and functional leads

o   Acts as a liaison between business / functional leads and supplier; owns compliant resolution

o   Implements improvement ideas with supplier

  • Helps drive tracking and reporting for category spend areas

o   Develops tracking mechanisms and supplier key performance indicators with manager

o   Tracks compliance to preferred supplier list

  • Uses procurement tools and systems to create operational efficiency and visibility
  • Negotiates skillfully in situations with both internal and external parties; can win concessions while maintaining relationships; can be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic

 


 

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM EDUCATION, AMT. & TYPE OF WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB COMPETENTLY)

 

  • 8+ Business experience in strategic sourcing with 8+ years of professional experience; global sourcing a plus
  • Management consulting experience a plus
  • BS with MBA a plus
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills; proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Ability to interface / engage with clients and suppliers via strong written, oral, and presentation skills
