The Routing team aims at providing the best possible directions to drivers, pedestrians and public transit users. We've been developing cutting-edge routing solutions as well as web services used by millions of users around the world through smartphone apps, web sites like http://wego.here.com and integrated solutions in the automotive context.

 

Joining us as a DevOps Engineer, you'll play a key role in the release process of one of the most versatile route calculation engines, capable of both running on low-end devices and taking advantage of high-end cloud computing virtual machines. You'll bring your experience and skills to our exciting project within a competent, cross-functional, “multiculti” (10+ nationalities), passionate and self-organized team.

Responsibilities

In an Agile context, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain and improve our testing framework: every new feature needs different way of being tested, we want to extend our testing capabilities and have a clean solution that scales.
  • Design and implement new tooling solutions to make the R&D agile and flexible.
  • Have an active part in all the Continuous Integration (CI) activities and bring your contribution to the company wide Continuous Integration community.
  • Continuous delivery per se: providing reliable software releases through build, packaging, test, and deployment automation.
  • Release management: planning, ensuring quality, feedback gathering, etc.
  • Data management: performance monitoring, usage breakdown, etc.
  • Communication aspects: reporting results, prepare release notes and user guides, bridging gaps between R&D and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • A BSc (MSc preferred) in Computer Science, (or equivalent).
  • A former experience working in an Agile team.
  • Very good skills in Python programming and testing.
  • Good understanding of C++ programming and testing.
  • Good knowledge of AWS services.
  • Comfort in using a wide variety of (mainly open source) technologies and tools.
  • Comfort in coding, testing and scripting.
  • Ease at collaborating, openly communicating and reaching across functional borders.
  • a motivation for frequent, incremental code testing and deployment.
  • Prior experiences with systems and IT operations.
  • Comfort in administrating GNU/Linux systems.
  • An experience in maintaining GNU/Linux packages, (rpm/yum, dpkg/apt).
  • A strong focused on business outcomes.
  • A strong grasp of automation tools.
  • Data management skills.

 

Any of the following would add value to your contribution in our team:

 

  • An experience using big data search, monitoring and analysis tools such as Splunk.
  • Usage of multiple software build systems (e.g. CMake, Make, qmake, etc.)
  • An experience with world-class cloud computing and cloud storage infrastructures (AWS, Rackspace, Azure).
  • Experience with continuous delivery engines: GoCD, Jenkins, etc.
  • Usage of continuous integration engines (Jenkins, Travis, Circle CI, etc.)
  • A former experience deploying RESTful web services.
  • Knowledge of container solutions and virtualization stacks.
  • Configuration of web servers: Apache, nginx, etc.
  • Knowledge of test driven development frameworks: Robot Framework, Cucumber...
