The Role

As part of the IoT Product Innovation team in Berlin, Software Engineer will be responsible for researching, implementing and expanding industrial-grade customer-facing geo-data-intensive products. Drawing on your background in building web solutions or experience with geo-spatial data processing, you will drive the development of new business opportunities for HERE. Working with modern technologies and strategic HERE partners, you would participate in product design and explore new opportunities by implementing early PoCs and growing them to scalable innovative solutions.

 

Responsibilities

What will you do?

  • Build fast, reliable and scalable “consumer-grade” geo-related services and solutions
  • Work across the whole stack of data types and amounts: from tiny plain dataset to terabytes of geo-shapes and often-updated streams of customer data.
  • Research new ways of working with strategic partner’s data, through building a joint PoC.
  • Represent the team, participate in designing the future architecture, etc.

Qualifications

What are we looking for in you?

  • Master’s Level Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years industry experience in a data-intensive environment
  • Excellent in Python and good in at least one another language, e.g. Java, C++, Scala, JS, Ruby, ...
  • Experience with different databases (e.g. relational, noSQL, in-memory, data warehouses) and ability to argument the choice of one.
  • Good understanding of web technologies: e.g. REST API, HTTP(s), web security, etc.
  • Strong communication skills

 

Experience with one of the following is a plus:

  • Amazon Web Services eco-system (ec2, S3, EMR, Redshift, ...)
  • Data analysis (R, Pandas, NumPy, ...)
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
