The Field Data Collection Driver works within the RMC organization driving a HERE vehicle that collects highly detailed map data. The driver operates a HERE field data collection vehicle and equipment for extended periods by following routes for field data collection in a safe, timely and efficient manner. The driver creates routes for collection using company software and based on a provided collection planning schedule. The driver monitors car and computer system performance and conducts basic troubleshooting of onboard computer equipment issues. The driver performs basic quality checks on the data collected to ensure completeness of each assigned area. The driver communicates project status to their supervisor. The driver is responsible for maintaining their assigned vehicle with a regular servicing schedule.


  • Drive HERE field data collection vehicle
  • Operate and monitor HERE field data collection equipment to collect highly detailed map data
  • Create collection routes and maps for assigned areas using Company software
  • Plan collection based on weather and due dates for assignments
  • Perform quality checks on data collected to ensure complete coverage of assigned area
  • Use internal process to receive specific collection requests for assigned area, and complete requests by stated due date
  • Note changes to the road network identified while driving and provide feedback via Company process
  • Maintain HERE field data collection vehicle and perform daily vehicle and collection equipment inspections
  • Report collection project status and issues (weather/technical) to supervisor
  • Ship and receive data-capturing hard drive using Company mobile application
  • Safely operate vehicle in different configurations as assigned under all types of climatic, terrain, and road conditions
  • Drive in various traffic situations & settings, for extended times and over long distances in accordance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations and Company policy
  • Comply with HERE procedures and regulations including Driver Safety and ITAR (where applicable)
  • Represent the Company in a professional manner
  • Understand and perform instructions given electronically, orally or in writing
  • Subject to regular review process
  • Extensive travel required

Essential Job Function

  • Long driving days (up to 10+ hours at times)
  • High profile driving (i.e., company signage on vehicles)
  • Field Data Collection equipment setup and monitoring
  • Responsible for all assigned driving tasks and related admin support
  • Troubleshooting of vehicle and data capturing components
  • Travel required away from home (possibly months)

  • High school degree
  • Minimum age of 22 years old
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Minimum three years driving experience
  • Driving record, including convictions, will be considered
  • Ability to use a digital map and navigate a vehicle
  • Ability to use a smartphone and mobile applications
  • Good technical computing skills including experience with MS Office and file sharing
  • Ability to learn new computer software quickly and thoroughly
  • GIS/GPS experience/familiarity is a plus but not required
  • Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to operate independently performing prescribed tasks
  • Ability to work in a team environment with others doing similar tasks in an assigned area or within a single vehicle
  • Must enjoy urban and long distance driving
