HERE is seeking a talented Lead Research Engineer to develop a global highly accurate and precise 3-d map for autonomous driving by probabilistically aggregating crowd-sourced multi-sensor data from millions of cars in near real-time. This technology spans over multiple disciplines such as large scale graph optimization, computer vision, machine learning and scalable AWS solutions. In this role the candidate will develop large-scale graph optimization by modeling the uncertainty in the data from different sensors and different fidelities.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop technology for estimating diffrent configurations for map geometry and attributes  from multi-sensor data. 
  • Develop models for the uncertainty of sensor measurements obtained from moving vehicles. 
  •  Maintain an up-to date technology developments across industry and research community. 
  • Implement novel technologies as a part of an agile team. 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or any related field with in-depth understanding of topics in Probabilistic Graphical Models and/or Computer Vision and/or Machine Learning 
  • Track record of contribution to research communities and/or efforts, including publishing papers 
  • Intermediate C++ and python software development skills  
  • Creative, resourceful, and innovative problem solver 

Desired Skills: 

  • Relevant work experience, including full time industry experience or as a researcher in university 
  • Strong publication record in industry and academia 
  • Experience with Visual SLAM, Ceres solver, Graph optimization libraries 
  • Proficiency with Linux and scripting languages (Shell, Matlab, Perl)
