HERE Techologies´ Patenting organization is seeking to hire an Intellectual Property Rights (Patent) professional. This position is a temporary 6 month contract to cover a paternity leave.

The role supports identification of inventions by HERE employees and handles the process of protecting the intellectual property of HERE.


As an IP specialist in this position, you will manage a portfolio of HERE´s patent families. 

  • Handling patenting matters related to computer science and software technology, in particular as it relates to servers, platforms, cloud computing, applications, navigation, and mapping (cartography) technologies
  • Coordinating with R&D to identify potentially patentable inventions
  • Evaluating new invention disclosures
  • Managing outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications
  • Evaluating HERE´s patents and patent applications to determine potential infringement or acceptance in a technical standard 
  • Evaluating patents for licensing and litigation
  • Identifying patents for retention or removal from the portfolio
  • Tagging products for patent clearance
  • Achieving full EPA qualification (if not already fully qualified)


  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years experience
  • Passion for technology
  • Excellence in communication
  • Fluency in English language is essential, both written and spoken
  • Ability to manage a large number of tasks efficiently
  • EPA qualification is a plus
  • IP experience helps too


In this position you will have the opportunity to prepare and prosecute patent applications in-house, consistent with other duties.


The IP Specialist in this position may from time to time be required to perform other general duties in support of the wider HERE legal department.


Some travel (less than 5%) may be required.
