A Sr Engineer on the Technical Operations team supporting Core Map Group in HERE is responsible for onboarding, maintaining, and supporting HERE's map building applications and product creation pipeline.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage and maintain production and pre-production environments used to develop, test, and deliver services/products
  • Take actions to ensure robust and scalable production systems, including patch/upgrade management, enforcing security policies, and optimizing infrastructure
  • OnBoard new applications/Product Types to take new features from Development through delivery and to end customers
  • Proactively identify and drive automation of tasks associated with service delivery
  • Looks for ways to improve the stability, maintenance and high availability of applications & infrastructure that runs applications to support business functions
  • Production Support - Investigation and root cause analysis of software and system defects. Troubleshoot incidents and implement corrective actions
  • Support internal customers and participate in the on-call rotation
  • Work closely with supporting infrastructure groups such as database, storage, and networking teams to troubleshoot issues
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure service levels are met

 

Qualifications

TechNical Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a Systems Engineer/Administrator working in a high availability, large scale Linux production environment.
  • Experience with Job Scheduling and workload automation tools like Control-M
  • Experience working with virtualized infrastructure, such as VMWare or Docker
  • Experience with network and storage management and database server administration
  • Experience with the following technologies is needed:
    • System Administration - Linux/Windows
    • Cloud-based tools: AWS
    • Databases: Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB, MySQL
    • Languages/Tools: JAVA, Shell scripting, PUPPET Configuration management
  • Familiar with Mesosphere DC/OS or other container orchestration tool
  • Familiar with Eclipse, Maven, GIT and CI servers (e.g. Jenkins/Hudson, GO, Bamboo)
  • Familar with configuring and using monitoring tools for internal datacenter infrastructure, cloud infrastructure, & containers (Splunk, Nagios, DataDog, & CloudWatch)
  • Experience with standard software development methodologies and practice around Agile and Scrum methodologies

Other Qualifications

Willingness to participate in the team's On-Call rotation and ad hoc support of critical services
Self-initiative with an ability to follow through on commitments made to customers and internal stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and associated processes quickly
Ability to mentor less-experienced systems engineers in best practices
Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Operational Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field preferred
Strong English verbal and written communication skills
