    The HERE HAD team designs and builds hardware and software to enable autonomous mobility solutions by providing capabilities that span the cloud, the vehicle, and the data.

    Within HAD, the Acquisition and Processing Engineering team builds services designed to efficiently expose our high resolution image and 3D point cloud data to internal product teams across the automotive, enterprise, and consumer spaces. This is a relatively new team so your knowledge and experience will make a substantial impact on bringing our software and services to the next level.

    We are looking for experienced and motivated candidates who are self-starters by nature and who will be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment focused on innovation and be able to learn and integrate complementary technologies inside and outside their specific area of expertise to deliver highly scalable and fault tolerant systems to optimize the way content feeds in to all of our products in the automotive, enterprise, and consumer spaces.

    Responsibilities:


    With a global fleet of vehicles collecting petabytes of 3D street-level and aerial data per year, you will be: 

    • Contributing to an engineering team charged with designing, architecting and building a platform to transform these massive data sets into building blocks for content creation.
    • Building out services and APIs providing direct access to these rich 3D datasets.
    • Work with Amazon Web Services as a storage and computing platform, especially with S3 and EC2.
    • Product and feature design.
    • Technical architectural design and review.
    • Software implementation with automated testing.
    • Peer code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing sessions.
    • Continuous process improvement, coding standards, use of code quality metrics.
    • Build, release and deployment automation and monitoring.

    What we're looking for:

    • 4 to 8 years of industry experience with Java and J2EE (Experience in Functional programming using Java 8 or Scala is preferable)
    • Experience building REST web service clients and servers
    • Hands-on object-oriented design skills, exposure to modern design patterns
    • Strong working know-how of Data Structures and Algorithms
    • Strong communication skills with an innate ability to take on the role of a SCRUM master for a team of developers and deliver results effectively within the SCRUM paradigm.
    • Effective unit testing with JUnit and mock objects
    • Experience with Build, Continuous Integration & Deployment
    • Good know how of performance tuning and optimization strategies at the VM level
    • BE/BTech/MCA in Computer Science

    And ideally, you have some of the following:

    • Good understanding of Distributed systems.
    • Scala programming experience (including Scala with Akka programming paradigm)
    • Experience with public cloud, specifically AWS.
    • Familiar with structured code reviews, e.g. Gerrit, FishEye, Crucible.
    • Experience with WGS-84, cartography, geodesy or navigation standards and systems.
