  • Who are we?

    The Instructional Design team supports an array of training material development requests to support the Global Content Operations (GCO) centers. Instructional Designers apply knowledge of cognitive science, research skill and creative ability to develop technical training curriculam, learning materials and assessments for online and instructor led environments, serving production staff at centers located in India, Mexico and the Netherlands.

     

    The Manager of Instructional Design leads the practice of instructional design for the Global Content Operations and manages the team responsible for creating training strategies and designing, developing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining training deliverables. The Manager is accountable for successful interaction and collaboration with related teams within GCO and the development organizations and is responsible for the professional standards, quality and timely delivery of all learning materials created by the Instructional Design Team.

     

    What's the role?

    • Determine and continuously evaluate demand for instructional design capacity and prioritize work plans based on stakeholder input and cross-functional consensus.
    • Establish and sustain standards for instructional design methods and technology in-line with industry best practice.
    • Coach and approve recommendations regarding training strategy, course design, technology, and instruction delivery options to achieve learning and performance objectives associated with assigned projects, in consultation with relevant client subject matter experts within and outside GCO as well as the broader LPD team.
    • Review and approve content produced by the instructional design team.
    • Coach IDs to effectively interact with relevant subject matter experts within GCO and externally to identify and gather necessary SOP, specification, user guides and similar source materials necessary to create learning content.
    • Collaborate with IDs to design and create templates to facilitate rapid development of training materials.
    • Establish and sustain close and continuous working relationships with GCO functional leads responsible for program implementation, capacity planning and launch.
    • Provide administrative leadership and supervision for the instructional design team.
    • Prepare budget recommendations and manage assigned budget.
    • Establish team standards for managing assigned projects.
    • Manage status and load balance work carried out by the Instructional Design team and ensure timely completion of all deliverables.
    • Conduct research and make recommendations pertaining to application of improved methods, tools and technologies in the instructional design field.

     

    Who are you?

    • Bachelor level degree in Instructional Design or an alternate Bachelor level degree with substantial course work related to adult education, design and development of learning material and multi-media communication.
    • Minimum of eight (8) years of professional work experience, including at least five (5) years of experience in design and creation of adult learning materials and managing complex projects and three (3) years of supervisory experience.
    • An advanced degree in a relevant field may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
    • Instructional Design experience in a technology based industry and workplace environment is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills including presentation, written and verbal in the English language.
    • Knowledge of e-learning authoring tools and technology such as Captivate V9, Flash, Learning Management Systems and Knowledge Management Systems.
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to collaborate with internal and external groups to innovate, drive change, resolve problems and positively influence business measure outcomes.
    • Strong process oriented skills with self-initiative to drive continuous improvement.
