    What's the role?

We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer for a map learning project to create and update autonomous vehicle maps using crowdsourced data. We work closely with automotive OEMs to develop systems for processing data sent to the HERE cloud from series production vehicles into published maps that are downloaded and continuously updated in vehicles. Experience with customer-facing technical projects is essential, as is comfort with a variety of highly technical topics related to mapping, data management, data analysis, and machine learning. The project is based in Boulder, Colorado. However, customers and teams involved in this project are distributed: light travel will be required.

    Responsibilities:

    • Build reliable, tested, production-ready software for creating and updating highly accurate, high resolution maps
    • Provide guidance to other developers and researchers regarding good software engineering and testing practice
    • Work closely with HERE software and research teams to specify, design, implement, and deploy the components of this system
    • Occasional technical work with customers to determine requirements and specifications

    Who are you?

    Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required, with a Master’s degree preferred.
    • Experience and success as a technical leader
    • Expertise in a technical topic related to industrial mapping such as SLAM, computer vision, particle filtering, Kalman filtering, and/or photogrammetry
    • Exposure to modern cloud computing environments such as AWS
    • Demonstrated ability to work in various cultural environments with distributed teams and customers
    • Programming skills in Python and C/C++
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
    • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time

    • Desired skills sets to have:
    • 3+ years of experience in technical project leadership

    • Proven track record in working with R&D teams and successful transition of R&D to production environments
