    Our division (POIT) focuses on solutioning, engineering, and operations for various application services and IT offerings for HERE Technologies. Our department (ISIT) provides and enable internal customers with services, solutions, and support focusing on-prem hosting infrastructure and enterprise IT.


    HERE's Global Network Services department is responsible for all aspects of networking at HERE. This includes Office networking, Datacenter networking, our own private MPLS highspeed backbone, and cloud connectivity. We are also responsible for HERE's DDI (IP, DHCP, and DNS), Content Delivery Network (CDN), and Global Load Balancing.

    What's the role?

    The Principal Network Architect is a senior member of the Global Network Services team accountable for defining network strategy and designing advanced networking solutions based on business requirements aligned with strategic business goals and the company’s overall strategic roadmap.

    This position requires an emphasis on long-term planning and development of the network environment, defining roadmaps and strategy, evaluating and assessing new networking technologies and their applicability to the organization, and development of supportable and efficient technical solutions and development of technical standards, policies and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Define network strategy and roadmap
    • Recommend appropriate technology platforms to support business processes and information flows
    • Create and maintain procedural, training, and architectural network documentation
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather and develop requirements
    • Analyze and recommend new technologies to enhance current systems, including cost/benefit analysis
    • Assist in identifying and mitigating escalated network issues
    • Participate in problem resolution activities and root cause reviews and analysis
    • Provide leadership and mentoring to fellow team members

    Who are you?

    A successful candidate meets the following:

    • DegreeDegree in Computing Science or IT, or in another field coupled with relevant on-the-job experience and certification, such as CCAr
    • 12+ years related work experience
    • Excellent business and communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to convey technology solutions in a persuasive manner while containing the appropriate amount detail
    • Extensive knowledge of data communication systems, including hardware, software and applications
    • Exceptional organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, under stress and within time constraints
    • Ability to translate technology and innovation opportunities into strategic requirements
    • First-rate troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
    • Culturally sensitive and willingness to work as part of a truly diverse multinational organization
    • Experience in network technologies: horizontally scaled systems, high-throughput services
    • Comprehensive hands-on experience working with the networking technologies of major vendors such as Routing/Switching, Firewalling, Load balancing, Cloud Strategies, Remote Access solutions, Wireless Networks, DDI, PKI, SSO, DDOS Protection, and WAN Acceleration
    • Expert working knowledge of:
      • Network Security risks, compliance, hardening and mitigation techniques
      • Network Switching: Spanning three, VLAN, ARP, switching fabrics
      • Network Routing: MPLS, iGP (OSPF&EIGRP), eGP (BGP)
      • Network Monitoring Tools: Science Logic, Nagios, Splunk and/or Zabbix
