What's the role?

We are looking for a (Sr.) Director Legal - Global Labor & Employee Relations (m/f/x) who will be responsible for Labor Law and Employee Relations across HERE. You will operate as a thought leader, supporting our senior leadership and helping shape the external environment in legislative, regulatory and policy areas related to labor and employee relations across HERE.



You are accountable for:


  • Global labor law activities with particular expertise and legal practice/advice in Germany and France, acting as a “first line of defense” and in an advisory capacity to HR teams and CHRO when it comes to employee or labor matters.
  • Manage a global team of employee relations and labor law experts
  • Effective and compliant strategies for a civil, fair, and ethical working environment for HERE’s workforce that maintains a collaborative and productive workplace in collaboration with other stakeholders (such as HR, CSR, Employee Experience Team, etc.). 
  • Oversight of Labor Agreements, establishing HERE standards for and forming productive working relationships with Labor Relations representative groups (e.g., Labor Unions, Workers Councils) and defining the tone and approach for bargaining and ensuring measures are in place for compliance with contracts.  Oversight and management of programs, policies, procedures and employment practices that are compliant with local laws and regulations.

  • Advise on management capabilities in just and consistent decision making, equitable treatment, and addressing unacceptable behaviors in the workplace. 
  • Providing day-to-day advice to HR and Business leaders providing insights on labor activities, manager capabilities and innovative and preventative practices. 
  • Working with Communications, HR and Employee Experience to proactively prepare for internal/external crisis communications related to employee relations and/or topics.

Who are you?

  • You have a Law degree or advanced business degree (e.g. MBA) in employment and/or labor law, or related discipline. 
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience is required, with at least 10 years progressive employee and labor relations.
  • You have at least seven years of leadership experience, managing employees based in different areas and time zones.
  • You are curious, have a can-do attitude, willing to go outside the box, to brainstorm solutions and create impactful strategies with the long-term also on focus.
  • You work in a technology or related industry with solid experience as a chief spokesperson in labor contract negotiations, preparation and conducting of labor arbitration. Hands on experience providing day-to-day advice and counsel on various labor and employee relations issues.
  •  You are confided with labor relations elements of mergers, acquisition, divestitures and organization restructurings. Experience with labor negotiations and collective bargaining agreements are preferred. Must have the ability to drive innovation and act as a thought leader both internally and externally.
  • You are a strong leader; operating globally with understanding and appreciation for regional differences.  Relationship management, coaching and collaboration skills are required. Must embody strong interpersonal, consultative, communications and facilitation skills. 
  • You are a enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment.
  • A minimum of 20% to 30% travel, both domestic and international, is required.
