What's the role?

We are searching for a legal professional to work closely with HERE’s APAC People team and various APAC business units on a broad spectrum of employment law matters. As Legal Counsel, APAC Employment, you will be the main point of contact for all employment law matters in the APAC region. You will also be a member of the HERE Global Legal Team, which is comprised of highly qualified and experienced lawyers located around the world.


This is a part-time role (3 days per week).


Your main responsibilities are :

  • Provide guidance on all HR and employment matters in the APAC region including compliance with employment / workplace laws, hiring and terminations, disciplinary and grievance cases.
  • Conduct investigations on various HR related topics.
  • Review company policies and processes for compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review employment related agreements and agreements with HR vendors.
  • Keep the company’s human resource department informed of significant labor and employment decisions, legislation, and regulatory rulings that may affect the company’s business or policies in the APAC region.
  • Provide training on new legislation.
  • Support, manage and conduct employment-related disputes or arbitrations.
  • Interact with outside counsel where needed.

Who are you?

You are a strong contender for this role if you have the following skills ,competencies and experience:

  • LLB, LLM or equivalent qualification (ideally with a focus on employment & labor law) and strong academic credentials from a top law school in the South East Asia region or similar.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the area of Employment & Labor Law in an in-house Legal/HR environment or in a law firm.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.Ability to work well both independently and as a cross-functional team member and build rapport and trust with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once, prioritize deadlines and tasks effectively and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively in identifying and resolving legal issues.
  • Ability to successfully balance the company’s interests and objectives with identified risks.
  • Respect for processes while demonstrating maturity to use flexibility when required.
  • Some flexibility in work hours, to accommodate time zones around the world.
  • Analytical skills, maturity in problem solving and a passion for detail.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • A keen interest in technology, mapping, and location services.
  • A positive outlook and good references from past work colleagues speaking to ability to work well with peers.
  • Fluency in English required, with other languages a bonus.
