As a Software Engineer intern with Positioning Product, you will be part of an engineering team that has software engineers, research engineers and data scientists to develop cutting-edge software with a focus on continuous delivery. On this team, you will have opportunity to work with new HD Wi-Fi  positioning feature research and development. The IEEE 802.11-2016 standard introduced a protocol for range estimation between an initiator and a responder. The standard defined a protocol for fine time measurement (FTM) and round-trip-time (RTT). This protocol enables two WIFI transceivers to measure their distance (range) with respect to one another.  

Key Accountabilities 

The related tasks during the intern period cover studying suitability of different RTT variants for WIFI positioning purposes. The related tasks cover the following. 

• Planning and preparation 
• RTT data collection in Tampere area 
• Cleaning the data 
• Positioning performance simulations and analysis using Matlab or similar tools 

• You are pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science, Signal Processing, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Software Engineering or a related field. 
• You have an interest in learning about working with big data, positioning technologies and services.  
• You are eager to learn more and interested in solving meaningful challenges. 
• You have good social skills as the work will be done as a part of a project team. 
• You have basic programming skills.
