As part of the Rendering Services team you will be developing and operating our global map rendering services: https://www.here.com/docs/category/map-rendering and upcoming services.

• You will be working in an international team comprising of software engineers, devops, architects and QA
  
• You will have the opportunity to work with highly available services, large collections of data and varied software services
• You will help us scaling our solutions to new customer demand
• You will be instrumental in our goal to optimize our services for high performance and availability, as well as cost efficiency

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that our services are stable, secure and running with high-performance on a globally distributed compute platform (AWS, Kubernetes)
• Enabling and supporting continuous deployment of our services (Gitlab)
• Extending our service deployments to new AWS regions
• Monitoring and optimizing our services and infrastructure for scalability and cost efficiency
• Analysing and fixing issues and bugs in our services
• Jointly working with our software engineers on development of our new services

Qualifications:

• M.Sc. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  
• Proficiency in infrastructure scripting using languages like Python, GO, BASH
• Solid analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Understanding of challenges in development of performant and cost efficient systems
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and Cloud Platforms like AWS as well as related tooling
  
• Good oral and written English communication skills
• Strong team player
• Strong motivation to learn
• Self-motivated

Desired experience:

• Experience with CI/CD processes and tools such as GitLab
• Experience with "Infrastructure as Code" principles
• Experience of working knowledge of a programming language like C++, Rust / Interest in software engineering and developing services in Rust
• Knowledge of logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana
