The Role

The HERE Analytics Foundation (AF) team is looking for a Software Engineer to join a team of experts building our Analytics Infrastructure and scaling and maintaining our ecosystem of applications that help with self-serve analytics.

The job includes all parts of software development lifecycle: refining product vision, gathering requirements, software system design, coding, testing, release and support. As our team is spread around the globe, you will work collaboratively with other team members from different locations.

Your daily activities will comprise of one or more of the following tasks:

• Solve complex problems in large-scale data extraction, transformation, and enrichment

• Build backend tools and visualization components for semi/automated map data processing

• Design and refine APIs and system integrations with cross-functional engineering teams

• Apply DevOps best practices including CI/CD automation, containerization, and cloud deployment

• Collaborate with global teammates to deliver reliable, testable, and scalable solutions

• Leverage cloud platforms, particularly AWS, to deploy and monitor analytics applications

• Become an expert in HERE’s internal APIs and platform capabilities

Must-Have Skills:

• 2+ years of hands-on software development experience

• Proficiency in Java, Python, or a functional programming language

• Strong understanding of Linux, Bash scripting, Git, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins preferred)

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration tools

• Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating with global teams

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP

• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases

• Knowledge of SQL Execution Plans and query optimization

• Exposure to ETL pipelines and data transformation processes

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and REST/SOAP web services

• Experience working in Agile development environments
