HERE is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our highly motivated Platform Experience team. The Platform Experience is responsible for providing the enabling layers to the HERE Platform through container orchestration, cloud abstraction, big data management, processing, and streaming services. These services power many HERE map-building applications, key differentiating driving services for premium automotive brands, private mapping for mining companies, and large-scale logistics platforms.

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a high-impact team that manages data processing pipelines and automation workflows critical for HERE’s Platform customers. These include 1000+ stream and batch pipelines running on hundreds of EC2 instances in HERE-managed Kubernetes clusters (1000+ nodes) across multiple AWS regions.

This role will also focus on scaling Lanes automation, sensor fusion, and multi-source map automation—enabling accurate and timely map content updates by integrating high-fidelity vehicle sensor data, street-level imagery, probe telemetry, and aerial sources. You will help evolve our platform capabilities to handle complex cross-layer dependencies, enabling automated conflation, precision feature extraction, and semantic enrichment of lanes and road attributes at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of automation systems that support map content creation, with emphasis on lane modeling, geometry accuracy, and topology consistency.
• Drive innovation and reliability in sensor fusion pipelines combining camera, LiDAR, radar, and probe data.
• Oversee multi-source ingestion workflows, ensuring scalable harmonization and quality gating of diverse content streams.
• Own and enhance microservices for content processing and map automation that power location-aware services for autonomous vehicles and logistics platforms.
• Collaborate on architectural decisions that support cross-layer harmonization, enabling high-frequency updates to map content without full reprocessing cycles.
• Champion engineering best practices and Agile standards to ensure team productivity, code quality, and fast iterations.
• Partner with product, research, and operations teams to translate platform strategy into tactical execution aligned with AI/ML-enabled map intelligence.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• 5+ years of people management with success in scaling geo-distributed teams
• 7+ years in backend development with proven experience in building large-scale, distributed systems
• Strong foundation in software design, architecture, and data-centric engineering
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Familiarity with sensor fusion pipelines, spatiotemporal data processing, or HD map systems is a strong plus
• Experience with big data frameworks (Spark, Flink), NoSQL systems, and event streaming (Kafka)
• Exposure to geospatial content processing, lane-level localization, or automated quality validation is highly desirable

The expected base salary range for this position is $169,400 to $242,000 per year. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as skills and experience. 

This position is also eligible for a target annual performance bonus, which is subject to company and individual performance.
