What's the role?

As a working-student in the highly innovative research project HFIN (Human Factors for Navigation) Phase 1, you will directly contribute to road safety by helping to optimize the driver's cognitive load.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in researching and analyzing driver cognitive load metrics and their impact on road safety.
  • Necessary literature review.
  • Support data collection and analysis related to driver behavior.
  • Creation of optimal algorithms as per HFIN use cases.
  • Data mining as well as creation of insights needed for HFIN.
  • Participate in testing and validating of the results.
  • Visualization of the results using HERE Platform.
  • Familiarization with the HERE platform and its application within the HFIN project.

It provides high quality mapping, real-time traffic data, geocoding, routing, and advanced location analytics, all through scalable APIs and SDKs.

 

Who are you?

You are a curious, passionate, and result-driven individual with a strong interest in human-centered technologies, road safety, and intelligent transportation systems. With a background in computer science, data science, GIS or a related field, you are passionate to explore how location technology can improve road safety and user experience.

 

  • Programming skills in Python or Java, with understanding of data structures and algorithms.

  • Experience in data mining, analysis, and visualization.

  • Familiarity with GIS platforms, and understanding of cognitive load, driver distraction, and human-in-the-loop system principles (nice-to-have).

  • Strong written and verbal communication English skills to clearly report findings.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical skills and interdisciplinary curiosity.

  • Openness and motivation to learn and adopt new tools and technologies.

  • Applicant needs to have student status and must be enrolled in a German university in and around Berlin region.

    It is a 20hrs/week contract for 6 months for a working student.

    Hybrid working model - 2x/week in our Berlin's office.
