What's the role?

Team:

The Find Team develops and maintains Geocoding and Search, a core part of HERE’s global location platform. Our mission is to make every address, place, and point of interest searchable and accurate across the world. We are the technology behind the search box on navigation devices and location-based platforms used by major global enterprises.

 

The team is distributed across offices in the USA, India, Germany, Poland, and Portugal, allowing collaboration across different time zones and cultures. We work closely with the Data Engineering, Map Intelligence, and Platform Operations teams to ensure high performance and reliability of our search and location APIs.

 

As part of the Find Team, you’ll join a supportive and diverse environment that values learning, teamwork, and innovation. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your technical skills while contributing to services used by millions of people worldwide.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of Geocoding and Search services.
  • Participate in discussions, propose ideas, and give feedback on new feature concepts.
  • Implement new features under the guidance of a senior developer.
  • Collaborate with testers and operations to bring features through the release pipeline to production.
  • Learn and apply best practices in software development, testing, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Participate in code reviews, team stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Our tech stack includes Java, Spring Boot, Scala, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Apache Spark, PostgreSQL, and GitLab.

Who are you?

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

  • Basic backend development experience (e.g., Java or Scala).

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, HTTP, and networking fundamentals.

  • Have basic knowledge of data analytics and machine learning concepts.
  • Interest in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes), Strong problem-solving and software design skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

  • Familiarity with distributed systems or cloud-based architectures (AWS / Azure).

  • Interest in Big Data tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, Kafka, Presto).

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
