What's the role?

The HERE Navigation team is building a next-generation, highly customizable embedded navigation product with an interesting technical stack and architecture . In fact, the in-car navigation is just one element of the entire developed ecosystem, other building blocks are i.a. APIs, libraries and SDK . We are an international team of engineers, designers and product managers working in an agile environment. 

 

As a Lead Test Automation Engineer, you'll be a key player in ensuring the quality of our HERE-based automotive navigation systems through comprehensive test automation and engineering excellence.

You'll work closely with Developers, DevOps, Product Owners, Product Managers, and UX teams to ensure our navigation solutions meet the highest standards of reliability, usability, and performance.

 

As a Lead Test Automation Engineer in our team, you will:

 

  • Define and lead the test automation strategy for Android-based automotive navigation systems (including AAOS)
  • Coordinate and prioritize testing activities across lab and virtualized environments
  • Lead a team of test engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback
  • Design and implement automated test frameworks using Kotlin, Appium, Cucumber, and TestNG
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and reporting documentation for Android-based navigation systems (including AAOS)
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts for test infrastructure and tooling
  • Manage and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for test automation
  • Troubleshoot issues during testing and in production environments
  • Track test results and manage defects using tools like JIRA
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and ensure test coverage
  • Execute automated tests to verify functionality, performance, and scalability on Target HW/Car/Emulators
  • Identify, prioritize, and report defects, and work with development teams to drive resolution
  • Drive quality initiatives, process improvements, and automation efforts

Who are you?

You're a quality-driven engineer with strong automation expertise who thrives on building robust test frameworks and ensuring seamless navigation experiences through comprehensive automated testing.

 

You Bring:

  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Information Sciences, or equivalent experience
  • 9+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on test automation
  • Extensive experience with Kotlin test automation using Appium, Cucumber, and TestNG
  • Proficiency in Gradle for build automation and dependency management
  • Experience in mobile application testing, especially on Android (AAOS is a big plus)
  • Familiarity with automotive navigation systems (HERE or similar is a bonus)
  • Strong Python scripting skills for test infrastructure and tooling
  • Experience managing GitLab CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure
  • Proven leadership experience in QA or test automation engineering roles
  • Strong background in test strategy, planning, and execution
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English
  • Experience with tools like JIRA and test management systems
  • Understanding of Automotive Quality Standards - Ex: ISTQB, A-SPICE
  • A passion for product quality, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset
