What's the role?

We are looking for a Principal Agentic AI Engineer to drive the architecture and hands-on delivery of the platform that lets AI agents reason about and act on the physical world. You will define technical direction for how agents consume our location intelligence reliably, at scale, and across environments, and build the core capabilities that make that possible in production. 

This role combines deep hands-on engineering with applied judgment about real-world model behavior, cost, and reliability. You will operate with broad scope, influencing multiple teams through technical leadership and cross-functional alignment. 

 

Main responsibilities: 

  • Architecture and system design: Own the design of core platform capabilities that expose location intelligence to AI agents through clean, standardized interfaces. Design reusable, decoupled components and scalable patterns that many teams and use cases build on
  • Execution and integration: Build the layer that turns complex, natural-language location intent into deterministic, decision-grade results. Integrate multiple services, data sources, and interaction patterns into cohesive, reliable systems
  • Performance, cost, and edge: Optimize for latency, cost, and reliability, including deployment in constrained and edge environments such as automotive. Analyze trade-offs between accuracy, cost, and latency, and make pragmatic engineering decisions
  • Reliability and evaluation: Design evaluation strategies, benchmarking, and reliability patterns that prove correctness and performance against alternatives
  • Technical leadership: Lead technical reviews and decision-making, retire architectural risk, and act as a force multiplier through design guidance, mentoring, and strong engineering standards. Explain complex trade-offs clearly to engineering, product, and executive stakeholders

Who are you?

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Extensive experience as a senior or principal engineer delivering production-grade agentic systems end to end, from design through rollout and operations
  • Experience with agentic systems, including evaluation, reliability, and safety patterns
  • Strong Rust and Python (Rust especially valued), with experience across ML frameworks.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals: system design, distributed systems, API design, observability, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience with modern LLM engineering: prompting and orchestration patterns, tool and function calling, and building systems that let LLMs act reliably through structured interfaces
  • Ability to lead through influence: drive alignment, communicate trade-offs, and make high-quality technical decisions
  • Mandatory hands-on use of AI tools in day-to-day engineering to increase productivity

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with cost-aware LLM serving, caching, and latency optimization at scale
  • Experience deploying to constrained or edge environments (automotive a plus)
  • Familiarity with location-based services, navigation, or geospatial data
  • Familiarity with model adaptation techniques (e.g. LoRA/QLoRA) for narrow, cost-sensitive tasks
  • Open-source contributions, publications, patents, or recognized technical leadership in AI/ML
